This catalogue concentrates firstly on the six bronzes from Karel Dierickx and related drawings and gouaches.
Special texts, written by Günther Kebeck on three bronzes, analyse their psychological and art historical dimensions.
The first part of the catalogue demonstrates the development of Dierickx’ painting from 1997 to 2003 and gives together with the sculptures - an impression of his process of work. This process, visually seen in the formation of his vague figuration - landscapes, heads, still lifes -, is as important as the result itself and allows own imagination and interpretation.

During the years 1996-99 Karel Dierickx created a suite of oil paintings, gouaches and drawings with the common title “Novemberstilte” (Silence of November). They all variate and experimentate with a subject, which is nearly described as a detail of a landscape. Through their technical heterogeneity and perfection the works appear as a short résumé of his art of painting and drawing. This pictures are completed with a selection of poems from Charles Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs du Mal”, which are edited firstly in 1857. Since the middle of the 1990ies Karel Dierickx was intensively occupied with Baudelaire. The pictures do not illustrate directly these poems, but there exist parallels especially in the mentality, atmosphere and expression between the poems and the pictures.
