The first part of the catalogue demonstrates the development of Dierickx’ painting from 1997 to 2003 and gives - together with the sculptures - an impression of his process of work. This process, visually seen in the formation of his vague figuration - landscapes, heads, still lifes -, is as important as the result itself and allows own imagination and interpretation.
Heiner Hachmeister and Günther Kebeck (ed.)KAREL DIERICKX - Novemberstilte (CD-Rom)paintings from Karel Dierickx and poems from Charles Baudelairegerman/french: introduction from Günther Kebeck and 12 poems from Charles BaudelairePowerPoint presentation, 18 illustrations in colour print and b/w, index edition of 300 ex., 2003price € 5.-During the years 1996-99 Karel Dierickx created a suite of oil paintings, gouaches and drawings with the common title “Novemberstilte” (Silence of November). They all variate and experimentate with a subject, which is nearly described as a detail of a landscape. Through their technical heterogeneity and perfection the works appear as a short résumé of his art of painting and drawing. This pictures are completed with a selection of poems from Charles Baudelaire’s “Les Fleurs du Mal”, which are edited firstly in 1857. Since the middle of the 1990ies Karel Dierickx was intensively occupied with Baudelaire. The pictures do not illustrate directly these poems, but there exist parallels especially in the mentality, atmosphere and expression between the poems and the pictures.

The unmistakable oil paintings, gouaches and drawings of Lam, which could be seen extensively for the last time in Germany in 1988, connect african and oceanic myths and cults with the european avantgarde painting.Lam's artistic world is inhabited by slim creatures mixed of woman and man, human being and animal, strange plants or weaponned birds with abstract skulls. The very different work of both artists is united by the metamorphosis as the most important artistical moment. This catalogue is concentrated on the rare sculptures of Miró which in the 60ies became more and more important for him.Founded objects and hand-formed parts become complex configurations through the casting in bronze by changing abstract signs into human figures, shoes into hands or hats into heads.
